Program Areas
At Camp Maluhia, we give top priority to the following major program areas:

Aquatics
        Scoutcraft
        Nature (ecology-conservation)
        Field sports
        Handicraft

Merit Badge Policy
It is recommended that you attempt only 4 merit badges at camp.
If you finish all four, check out other opportunities that may be
available.

When planning your activities, choose a variety – ones that will
help you grow personally or in Scouting, and that are age
appropriate.  Consider shorter activities that are fun. Work on
Merit Badges that are interest to you.  Please realize that you
may not be able to finish Merit Badges.  Please consider the amount
of time and work that each requires.

If you wish to complete the Merit Badge at camp, have all writing,
drawing, special visitations, and investigations done prior to camp .
You may share these with the merit badge staff for “testing.”
Come to camp to grow, advance your skills, observe, experience,
and participate in the outdoors and to HAVE FUN!

In order to ensure that a Scout’s Merit Badge choice
is available, please submit the Merit Badge Activities Request Form
in the Council Office.

Each Scout should submit a form to their Scoutmaster and he will
submit all of the forms for his troop by the July 1st deadline.
Request for Merit Badges are based on availability after the deadline.
Please remember to check any prerequisites, rank requirements,
and conflicts.

Merit Badge Schedule
The schedule is designed to give each Scout, maximum time for an exciting
summer camp experience. Time is relevant to activity and activities are
ongoing. Therefore, the schedule will be determined weekly according to
the Scouts/Troops in camp and their program desires. The summer camp
program at Camp Maluhia allows each Scout opportunities to choose
activities which will be fun, allow growth or advancement, have time for
fellowship with other scouts, and experience the outdoors. In order to
take full advantage of the program opportunities at Camp Maluhia, a
Scout must:

bullet

Counsel with his scoutmaster about his needs and wants in
Scouts and at camp. Review the program opportunities available.

bullet

Select appropriate activities and/or merit badges (refer to suggested
opportunities for merit badges).

bullet

Program activities for the entire camp, troops and patrols, and individual
scouts are briefly described and suggestions/recommendations identified
for Scouts in order to be prepared for the best possible summer camp.

All merit badges require that each Scout come prepared with a merit
badge book, pencil, and a notebook.  Knowledge of the merit badge book,
its requirements and completion of any prerequisites are vital to completing
the merit badge during camp.  Partials will be given to Scouts not completing
all the requirements for a merit badge.  Please read the merit badge book
prior to coming to camp.

A copy of the prerequisites is recommended for each boy.  This will ensure
that he knows what is required for him to complete prior to attending camp.
